The PTE exam’s mark distribution is slightly different from that of the TOEFL and IELTS regarding English language proficiency. If one section of the IELTS has a fixed number of points, only that section receives a mark.

What Is PTE Speaking?  

PTE speaking is the 1st section of the PTE Academic exam, and it consists of 5 question types. You have only 54 to 67 minutes to finish, and this section tests your PTE speaking, writing, and listening. You have to answer 15 to 20 tasks in PTE speaking. The speaking section is the most important section in the PTE exam. You need to score well in the PTE speaking module to achieve a good score in PTE. PTE speaking section is considered the most difficult compared to other PTE sections. PTE Speaking Marks Distribution

There are two types of PTE scores

1. Correct or Incorrect
2. Partial Credit

Correct Or Incorrect 

In listening and reading sections, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and Fill-in-Blanks score Correct or incorrect. In addition, we have negative marks for Multiple Choice Questions; choose multiple answers.

For example, in MCQs, multiple-answer, if we select A, B, and C, but the correct answers are A and B, then we will get 1 mark for every right answer and -1 mark for every wrong answer, which is C. Ultimately, we will receive 2-1 marks, which is 1 point.

Similarly, if we select the answer C and D, but the correct answers are A and B, then we won’t receive -2 marks; instead, we will obtain 0 marks because the minimum mark for every question is 0. It is the first type of PTE Speaking Marks Distribution

Partial Credit

Marks will be provided based on our keywords, spelling, grammar, content, vocabulary, pronunciation, and fluency. 

For example, a maximum of 5 marks each will be provided based on fluency, content, and pronunciation in the speaking section. Based on our content, the marks will be decreased from 5 to 0. 

If our content is irrelevant, then 0 marks will be provided for the content, but if the fluency is good, then 5 marks will be provided for good fluency.

Read Aloud 

It carries the equal marks in reading and speaking. If we keep 50% pronunciation and smooth fluency, we will achieve 79+ marks in the speaking module, and the content is not essential in speaking. However, keeping the content and pronunciation for reading and listening is crucial.

Repeat Sentence

Speaking contains 32 marks, and listening includes around 20 marks. This question gets the highest marks in PTE. 

Describe Image 

Only the speaking section is scored in the described image, which is around 22. In the speaking section, we should only focus on fluency to get good marks. 

Retell Lecture

In this, the speaking section contains eleven marks, the listening section contains 9.9 marks, and the reading section does not have any marks. We can follow the template for describing images and retelling lectures to avoid fumbling while speaking. We need to follow the template, but we should catch the right words from the pieces of information provided and have them in a template. 

Answer Short Questions 

The speaking section contains only 2.4 marks, and the listening sections have only 6.6 marks in this question. This type of question is entirely based on general knowledge, and we have many questions on the internet.

To answer short questions, imagine if we don’t understand the answer and repeat the question as it evaluates only your listening skill, not general knowledge. This question contains the lowest marks in PTE. So, these are the questions in PTE Speaking Marks Distribution.

The ability to be understood while making speaking sounds is known as pronunciation. Your words should be simple enough for an English language native speaker to comprehend. It’s acceptable for regional accents and inflections to vary as long as they’re correctly understood.

Spelling 

The spelling is simple. Words should be written (or, more precisely, typed) using American or British English dictionaries.

Vocabulary 

Making the right word choices and displaying a variety of word lists are both parts of vocabulary. For example, “He was watching TV” instead of “He was staring at the TV” is more acceptable. Similarly, using synonyms in your replies is preferable to repeatedly using the same word to demonstrate range.

Written discourse 

It evaluates your response’s organization regarding the logical progression and significance of your points or arguments.
